MARTINA WAS PRETENDING THAT IT WAS STILL 1987 AND PEOPLE KNEW WHO SHE WAS WHILE CAITLYN WAS PRETENDING SHE WAS TONGUING DONALD TRUMP'S RIGHT LOAFER WHILE HE PUT HIS LEFT FOOT DOWN ON HER NECK WHEN BOTH WOMEN NOTICED TOO LATE THE SMELL OF SMOKE AND REALIZED THE FRICTION HAD STARTED A FIRE.

REACHED FOR COMMENT, DAUGHTER KENDALL JENNER STATED, "CAITLYN WAS A CONTINUAL EMBARRASSMENT TO ME. THE HATE SHE PROJECTED ONTO OTHERS FINALLY RESULTED IN HER OWN DEMISE. I WISH I COULD TELL YOU SHE WILL BE MISSED BUT I DON'T LIKE TO LIE."

KENDALL THEN ATTEMPTED TO HANG UP BUT WE STOPPED HER ASKING HER FOR A COMMENT ABOUT MARTINA.

Yesterday, in NYC, it was a gathering of presidents as President Joe Biden was joined by former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama for a big fundraiser. That's a single sentence and does not have enough interest for me to include it in the snapshot -- let alone open with it. What makes it news to me? Michael Williams, MJ Lee and Donald Judd (CNN) report:

The event was interrupted at least four times by protesters, with at least three calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

“That’s alright. Let them go. There’s a lot of people who are very, very — there are too many innocent victims, Israeli and Palestinian. We’ve got to get more food and medicine, supplies into the Palestinians,” Biden said, according to journalists in the room, following one interruption. “But we can’t forget, Israel is in a position where its very existence is at stake. You have to have all those people. They weren’t killed. They were massacred. They were massacred.”

Ahead of the fundraiser, hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Midtown Manhattan to protest Biden’s support for Israel amid its war in Gaza and call for a ceasefire. Biden has called for a temporary ceasefire and the release of hostages held by Hamas.

How embarrassing. That's like a Hillary Clinton visits a college campus appearance.

“Shame on you, Joe Biden!” one yelled.

Obama and Clinton offered a presidential perspective of the Gaza crisis that stressed the political realities of being in the White House.

A president needs to be able to support Israel at the same time as fighting for Palestinians to have more access to food, medical supplies and a future state, they said.

“It’s a lonely seat,” Obama said. “One of the realities of the presidency is that the world has a lot of joy and beauty, but it also has a lot of tragedy and cruelty.”

Boo! Boo! Let's all boo that from Barack! Poor, little president, such a rough job. What could be worse?

Uh, try living in Palestine right now for starters.

This was a fundraiser. They're getting heckled at a fundraiser. That's how deeply unpopular the US government's embrace of the assault on Gaza is.

The whole thing was a nightmare. And that includes the visuals. Who decided, for example, that the three men -- at a pricey fundraiser -- should all go tieless? Did they think that made them look like regular people?

It didn't work for any of them but especially not for Bill. He needed that tie to avoid people wondering if he'd stolen one of Hillary Clinton's pant suits for the night.

There are other campaigns taking place. Marianne Williamson, for example, relaunched her campaign for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination not to secure the nomination -- Joe Biden has it -- but to raise important and needed issues.

Marianne Williamson: Ten years ago, if I was, after I'd seen a patient and I told the patient what medicine or what treatment I wanted, ten years ago the question would have been, "What are the side effects?" Today, the question is often -- more often, "How much will it cost me?" You have 18 million Americans who cannot afford to pay for the prescriptions that their doctors give them. And I don't believe that incremental changes are going to fix this. We are already in crisis mode. And if Washington doesn't see it, the average American does see it. People are living with-with the silent emergencies of poverty. The silent emergencies of hunger. You know we talk about COVID being an emergency. COVID was what's called a screaming emergency. Once the president declared that it was no longer an emergency and millions of people were thrown off Medicaid and SNAP benefits. People were basically just told "Go back to life as you were living it" which was already an emergency -- a constant emergency. The emergency of poverty. The emergency of hunger. The emergency of having to work two or three jobs just to put food on the table. And I'll tell you something, at this point, what we should see as the emergency of hopelessness. We should not talk about this mental health crisis as anything other than an emergency of hopelessness. and despair.

Last Saturday, Democratic Party primaries were held in Louisiana and in Missouri. Joe won both, no surprise. In Louisiana, Marianne came in second with 4.7% of the vote and in Missouri she came in third with 1.6% of the vote -- second place went to "Uncommitted" which received 11.7% of the vote.

As the assault on Gaza continues, more protests and actions take place in response. Maya Pontone and Rhea Nayyar (HYPERALLERGIC) report:

On a sunny but cold Sunday afternoon, hundreds of pro-Palestine activists unfurled a massive quilt on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, calling for an end to Israel’s hostilities in Gaza. The action, which began around 12:40pm today, March 24, attracted over 350 participants.
Titled “From Occupation to Liberation,” the quilt was comprised of 65 artworks by various anonymous artists, some featuring traditional Palestinian taṭrīz embroidery. Other squares referenced poet Refaat Alareer, who was killed by Israeli bombardments in Gaza, and Thomas Kilpper’s “Jenin Horse” (2003) — a 16-foot sculpture that previously stood in the West Bank city of Jenin before it was removed by Israeli forces in late October. As the quilt was spread out across the museum’s main entrance, activists encircled the display, carrying signs that read “We See Genocide,” “Let Gaza Live,” and “None Of Us Are Free Until Palestine Is Free.” The protesters also broke into Palestinian dabkeh folk dance.
Organizers of the protest told Hyperallergic that the artwork was modeled after the historic NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. Prints of the quilt are also available for purchase online. All proceeds will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the humanitarian relief organization that aids Palestinian refugees in Gaza and elsewhere, recently targeted by Israel and the US.

Protests and actions have taken place around the world. JTA notes:

The University of Turin is suspending a collaboration agreement with Israeli universities and research institutes after a wave of student protests over the Israel-Hamas war.

The school’s academic senate voted on Wednesday to ban participation in an initiative financing joint research projects between Italy and Israel, while rejecting calls for a broader cessation of ties with Israeli universities.

The decision has raised concerns among Italian Jewish leaders even after the university’s rector emphasized that collaboration currently in place would continue.

Des Moines' KCCI notes, "People in Des Moines are calling for an end to the violence in Gaza in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war. On Saturday, the Catholic Peace Ministry organized a rally outside the Polk County Democratic Party's convention at Lincoln High School." RTL explains, "After more than five months of war in Palestine, Luxembourg City saw another round of protests on Saturday. Between 200 and 300 protestors gathered in a demonstration organised by the Committee for Fair Peace in the Middle East (CPJPO). The protestors demand an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, an end to the Israeli occupation in Gaza and the West Bank, and the release of all hostages." ANADOLU AJANSI adds, "Israel's attacks on Gaza were again protested in marches Saturday in Vienna, Berlin and Dublin." CTV reports, "Two of Quebec's largest unions joined a demonstration in downtown Montreal in the snow on Saturday in support of the Palestinian people. The march was largely focused on a demand for an Israeli ceasefire in Gaza." Anthony Segaert (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD) reports:

Police have arrested 19 people after they gathered at Sydney’s Port Botany to protest the arrival of an Israeli cargo ship they accused of transporting weapons and supplies for the country.

Hundreds of protesters, joined by federal Greens senator and deputy leader Mehreen Faruqi, began protesting close to the facility on Sunday evening before marching across Penrhyn Road, the main access point out of the city’s port facility.

And Danielle Echeverria (SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE) reports:

Hundreds of people, including members of dozens of faith communities, walked 22 miles from Berkeley to Alameda on Saturday to advocate for a cease-fire in Gaza.

The 22-mile journey was intended to mirror the distance that those fleeing Gaza must travel to reach the Rafah crossing, where more than half of Gaza’s population has taken refuge, according to the Associated Press. The East Bay demonstration was one of more than 150 planned across cities in 19 countries in recent weeks, according to the Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage, an organization connecting churches and other faith groups to organize the demonstrations.

In addition to a cease-fire, the protesters are calling for the immediate release of all hostages, the flow of food, water, aid, fuel and humanitarian assistance, and the end of the Israeli occupation of Gaza.

More and more people speak out. Saturday, Philip Dewey (WALES ONLINE) reported:

Charlotte Church performed as part of a group singing in support of Gaza at Barry Island Promenade. The Welsh singer has lent her voice to a number of pro Palestine causes, calling for an immediate ceasefire on the Gaza Strip.

The Big Sing for Gaza event took place on Saturday at the popular tourist attraction, with fundraised for the Middle East Children's Alliance. Church led a choir on the promenade, singing "Let Gaza live", with the event also including kite flying, sand art and floral tributes.

Speaking at the event, Church said: "It's been a beautiful event, I feel very passionate about whatever I can to raise my voice to call for a ceasefire and to call to end the occupation of Palestine. What we're seeing happen in Palestine, what we're seeing happen to civilians, to children to babies, to birthing mothers, it's unbearable, it's unbearable to witness and I just (feel) like I have to do whatever I can as one small human to be with these other wonderful humans whose hearts are breaking over what is happened and what they are seeing, and what's being allowed to happen.

"Our government is complicit, America's government is complicit, and other world governments who are complicit in this and are still sending money and weapons to Israel. As a mother it's just too much, it needs to stop, it needs to end. I'll keep coming out until it does. Not just a ceasefire but an end to the occupation. Palestine has been under an apartheid system and a military occupation in Gaza since the 60s, and a really violent military occupation.

VATICAN NEWS reports that Cardinal Gianbattista Pizzaballa has termed the Gaza situation "objectively intolerable" and "Everyone -- religious, political, and social communities -- must do everything possible to put an end this situation." AP notes U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres has called it a "moral outage." Former UK Prime Minister David Miliband, International Rescue Committee president, terms it "a failure of humanity" -- see video below.

And AOC started the weekend calling it "an unfolding genocide." Lauren Aratani (GUARDIAN) reports:

Progressive US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called the Israeli military campaign in Gaza an “unfolding genocide” in a scathing speech that demanded the Joe Biden White House suspend aid to Israel’s armed forces.

“As we speak, in this moment, 1.1 million innocents in Gaza are at famine’s door,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a speech on the House floor on Friday.

Citing 30,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza and noting 70% were women and children, she continued: “A famine … is being intentionally precipitated through the blocking of food and global humanitarian assistance by leaders in the Israeli government. This is a mass starvation of people, engineered and orchestrated.

“This was all accomplished – much of this was accomplished – with US resources and weapons. If you want to know what an unfolding genocide looks like, open your eyes.”

Friday marked the first time the congresswoman has publicly called the ongoing violence in Gaza ― where more than 30,000 people have been killed by Israeli forces ― a genocide. Of those deaths, more than 25,000 have been women and children, killed in an offensive launched in response to the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel."

As we noted last night, day 163 finds the Israeli government again breaking international law as they attack another hospital with their military. THE NATIONAL reports on the attack of Al Shifa Hospital:

It said that around 30,000 displaced and wounded people and medical teams are still besieged inside the building.

It added that a fire has erupted at the gate of the hospital and there were cases of suffocation among displaced women and children at the facility and communications were cut off.

The government media office in Gaza has condemned the operation.

"The Israeli army's storming of Al Shifa Hospital with tanks, drones and weapons and shooting inside it is a war crime," it said.

ALJAZEERA adds:

A Palestinian journalist trapped inside al-Shifa Hospital has described the situation in the facility as “catastrophic” amid “intense clashes” and gunfire.

Wadea Abu Alsoud made the comments in a video posted to Instagram.

“This might be my last video,” he said. “We’re now besieged inside al-Shifa Hospital. We’re being heavily shot at. The occupation suddenly raided the hospital and its vicinity. As you can hear now, there are intense clashes in the vicinity of al-Shifa Hospital. We’re hearing sounds coming from the gate. There are shrapnels falling over the hospital’s yard.”

He added: “We’re currently besieged. Pray for us to get out safely. These are clashes as you can hear… we don’t know what’s going on outside al-Shifa hospital, but the situation here is catastrophic.”

This morning, THE SUN notes, "Gaza’s Health Ministry on Monday called on the United Nations (UN) and other international institutions to stop Israel’s ongoing operation in the area of Al-Shifa Hospital that has killed patients, refugees, and medical personnel." EURO NEWS adds, "The ministry says around 30,000 people are sheltering at the hospital, including patients, medical staff and people who have fled their homes seeking safety." THE STRAITS TIMES explains, "Al-Shifa, the Gaza Strip’s biggest hospital before the war, is now one of the only healthcare facilities that is even partially operational in the north of the territory, and is also housing hundreds of displaced civilians." Andrew England and Neri Zilber (FINANCIAL TIMES OF LONDON) remind, "Israel previously raided al-Shifa in Gaza City in November, forcing thousands of people who had sought sanctuary at the hospital to flee. That raid drew widespread condemnation from aid agencies as Israel’s air, land and sea offensive pushed Gaza’s health system towards a state of collapse." That raid, remember, was based on the Israeli's claims that Hamas fighters were using the hospital. Rachel Pannett and Hajar Harb (WASHINGTON POST) explain, "A Washington Post investigation in December into whether the civilian harm caused by the IDF’s campaign against the hospital complex was proportionate to the assessed threat found no immediate evidence of a command and control node. Rooms connected to the tunnel network discovered by the IDF showed no immediate evidence of ongoing military use by Hamas and no evidence that the tunnels could be accessed from inside hospital wards." THE GUARDIAN notes:

Al Jazeera reports that Israeli forces have arrested on of its journalists at al-Shifa hospital. Other local media have also reported that Ismail al-Ghoul has been detained.

We’re getting reports that Israeli forces have arrested Al Jazeera Arabic’s correspondent Ismail al-Ghoul from inside the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City. According to Palestinian writer and journalist Imad Zaqqout and other witnesses, al-Ghoul was beaten severely by Israeli soldiers before he was arrested with dozens of men and women within the hospital.
